Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team suffered a pair of losses, 2-0 and 11-7, at the hands of Skyline Conference rival College of Mount Saint Vincent in Bronxville, NY on Monday afternoon. With the defeats, the Golden Eagles fall to 14-8 (6-4 Skyline) on the year as the Dolphins improve to 10-12 (7-3 Skyline).

Game 1: CMSV 2, SJC 0

After a scoreless first inning, Vincent's posted the first run of the contest in the bottom of the second after Kathryn Dalton scored on a throwing error by SJC's Elizabeth Rohme.

The Golden Eagles had no response in the top of the third and instead the Dolphins would double their lead in the bottom half of the inning when Kierstyn Bourdeau scored Mackenzie Heizer with an RBI double to center field.

Struggling to find offense, SJC entered the seventh inning having failed to yet generate a hit, but with the first at bat of the inning, catcher Kristen Arbiter ended Heizer's no-hit bid with a single to center. Three consecutive outs would follow, though, as CMSV earned the 2-0 victory.

Senior Mallory McClafferty (5-2) tossed five innings and took the loss for the Golden Eagles. Sandra Foster made a relief appearance in the sixth inning.

Game 2: CMSV 11, SJC 7

McClafferty's double scored Lindsey Corriss in the top of the first to give SJC an early one-run lead, but the Dolphins posted seven runs in the bottom half of the frame to go up six runs (7-1) early. After Heizer's three-run homer, Joann Guerra recorded a two-RBI double before she and Deanna Nardi later scored on an error.

Solo shots from Rachel Heizer and Kathryn Dalton in the bottom of the second made it a 9-1 game, but McClafferty's fourth homer of the year—a two-run shot—in the top of the third brought the Golden Eagles back to within six (9-3).

Following a two-run third for the Dolphins, SJC went for four runs in the top of the fourth. Madeline Sganga doubled to left and scored Jillian McFadzen and Nicole Pitta, Rohme grounded out to first but scored Sganga and Arbiter singled to send Corriss home.

With no other scoring in the remaining three innings, the Dolphins claimed the win by a 11-7 scoreline.

Lauren Buturla made the start and took the loss for SJC, but Foster (1.2 innings) and Ashley Blydenburgh (3.2) made relief appearances.

Arbiter (3-4, 1 RBI, 1 run), Corriss (2-4, 2 runs) and McClafferty (2-4, 3 RBI's, 1 run) powered a St. Joseph's offense that generated 12 hits in the contest.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday April 14 when they travel to Wayne, NJ for a non-conference doubleheader with William Paterson at 3:00 PM. Live stats will be available here
