Women's Tennis Drops Match Against Farmingdale 8-1

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team suffered its first home loss of the 2015 season on Monday, dropping an 8-1 to the defending Skyline Conference champion Farmingdale State at the Outdoor Field Complex.

Victoria Makulik and Michelle Stanczak won the only point for the Golden Eagles, picking up an 8-2 decision over Michelle Fredericks and Tatiana Rosamilia.

Farmingdale's Denise Liguori and Madison Schrader defeated Victoria Panicola and Rita Wehrli 8-4, and Shannon Merker and Kelley McGrath were edged out Priscilla Signore and Qurat-ul-ain Ral to earn the second doubles point.

From there, the Rams locked up the match with six singles wins.

Merker dropped the first match 0-6, 2-6, and Wherli was upended by 2-6, 2-6.

Erika Hesselbirg lost to Liguori 4-6, 0-6, while Makulik lost to Rosamilia 2-6, 2-6.

Panicola continued her strong singles run for SJC, by pushing Schrader to her limit before falling 6-7, 2-7, 2-6. McGrath loss came via a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-7 (3-7).

The Golden Eagles wraps-up its five-match homestand on Tuesday, when it plays host to St. Joseph's- Brooklyn at 6PM at the Outdoor Field Complex.
