Cross Country Competes at Adelphi Invitational

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country team turned in sixth- and ninth-place finishes, respectively, at the Adelphi Invitational at Bethpage State Park on Friday afternoon.

The women posted a team score of 160 in the 5k race and were the highest-placing Division III team. Southern Connecticut State finished first (53) and Adelphi was second (59).

SJC's top performer was sophomore Gianna Dickson, who finished 24th with a time of 21:30.70. Among Division III runners, Dickson finished third.

Senior Caleigh Capek (21:41.10) and junior Emily Venturi (22:05.30) finished in 28th and 36th places, respectively. 

The men collected 272 points and were the second-best Division III team having finished 130 points off of fourth-place USMMA. Kutztown (53) and Southern Connecticut (67) were the top men's teams.

Junior Matt Lopez was the top male Division III runner in the 8k race having placed 12th with a time of 26:41.70. 

Senior Jeremy Anderson (30:18.70) finished in 74th place and senior Jimmy Malone (31:31.90) took 87th. 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 11 when they participate in the Purchase Invitational at SUNY Purchase.
