Women's Cross Country Wins 2nd-Straight ECAC Title

Milton, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's cross country team won its second-straight ECAC title at the conference's annual championship meet at Hudson Valley Sports Dome on Saturday.

The women posted a team score of 24, 53 points better than second-place Vassar. The men finished in seventh place with 148 points, 112 behind champion Vassar.

Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year Gianna Dickson led the women's team with a 6k time of 26:34.7 and a third-place finish. 

Sophomore Marissa Degni (26:43.3) and junior Emily Venturi (26:49.0) took fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Senior Caleigh Capek (27:15.4) and freshman Melanie Walsh (27:16.6) finished in eighth and ninth. 

SJC's top five were joined by seniors Julia Boris (19th) and Julia Schaefer (21st) on the All-ECAC team. 

For the men, junior Matt Lopez took third place with an 8k time of 28:00.6 and earned All-ECAC honors.

Junior Patrick Wuss (32:17.5) and junior Anthony Hristidis (32:38.7) placed 38th and 43rd, respectively. 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, November 13, when they participate at the NCAA Regionals at Rowan University.
