Cross Country Wraps Season at NCAA Metro Regionals

Glassboro, NJ| The St. Joseph's COllege (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams wrapped their 2021 seasons at the NCAA DIvision III Metro Region Championships in Glassboro, NJ on Saturday afternoon.

The women had their best-ever finish in 16th place in a field of 24 competing teams. Emily Venturi led the way with a 46th place finish and a 6k time of 24:12.7. 

Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year Gianna DIckson (24:31.7) and Melanie Walsh (24:35.5) finished in 59th and 60th places, respectively, and Caleigh Capek (25:07.7) and Marissa Degni (25:09.9) rounded out SJC's five point-scoring runners.

The men also secured their best-ever NCAA Regional finish in 16th place out of 21 teams. 

Matt Lopez was the highest-placing Golden Eagle in NCAA Regional history in 22nd place with an 8k time of 26:26.8. The junior collected All-Region honors for his performance.

Patrick Wuss (29:26.5) finished in 94th, and Anthony Hristidis (31:08.5) took 121st.
