Cross Country Hosts 21st Annual Golden Eagle Invitational

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams hosted the 21st Annual Golden Eagle Invitational at Bethpage State Park on Sunday morning. The women turned in a second-place finish and the men placed 11th.

In a field of 20 teams, the SJC women were powered by the duo of Caleigh Capek and Gianna Dickson, who placed ninth and 10th, respectively, with 5k times of 20:39.91 and 20:41.70.

Emily Venturi registered a 15th-place finish (21:02.32), and Julia Boris (21:23.54) and Melanie Walsh (21:23.85) rounded out SJC's scorers in 24th and 25th places.

The women boasted a team score of 81, 65 more than first-place St. Thomas Aquinas. STAC had five of the race's top six runners.

Leading the way for the men was Matt Lopez, who placed third with an 8k time of 26:10.46. Finishing first in the men's race was USMMA's Aohdan Meyer (26:04.96).

Patrick Wuss (29:57.00) finished in 49th place and Anthony Hristidis (31:04.35) took 76th.

The SJC men posted a team score of 267 and were fifth among Skyline Conference teams. STAC took first place with 51 points and beat out USMMA (66), which placed second.

The Golden Eagles returned to action on Saturday, October 16, when they host the 2nd Annual SJC Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park at 11:00 am.
