Skyline Conference Releases 2022-23 Basketball Preseason Polls

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's and men's basketball teams were selected to finish sixth and fifth, respectively, according to the Skyline Conference's 2022-23 preseason coaches polls released on the conference's website on Monday morning.

The women received a total of 59 points, while USMMA finished with 91 points garnering 3 first-place votes and being picked to finish first. Mount Saint Mary also received five first-place votes, Manhattanville obtained two first-place votes and Farmingdale secured one vote. 

Head Coach Kerry Connolly enters his third season with the Golden Eagles after coming off a strong season, finishing 15-9 overall and 12-8 in the conference. The team was defeated in the first round of the Skyline Playoffs by Manhattanville. 

The men totaled 82 points, 38 points less than Farmingdale State who garnered 120 total points with 10 first-place votes. Merchant Marine and Manhattanville both respectively totaled one vote for first place finish. 

AJ Uhl enters his first season as a head coach for St. Joseph's University Long Island, coming into the year with 12 returners from last year. The Golden Eagles finished 15-9 overall and 11-5 in the Skyline. The team looks to build off a strong season after falling to Manhattanville in the first round of the Skyline playoffs.

The men have their season opener on Tuesday, November 8 at 7:00 pm at the Danzi Center. The women open their season on Sunday, November 20 when they host Yeshiva University at 1:00 pm.
