Kean Cougars Claw Eagles in Non-Conference Affair

Patchogue, N.Y. – The Cougars of Kean University (15-4) snapped the Golden Eagles (7-10) five-game winning streak and extended their winning streak to seven with a, 10-1, victory over St. Joseph's.

Freshman Frank Trionfo (Middle Island, N.Y. / Longwood) took the hill for his first start in his collegiate career. He faced an always tough Kean team and was roughed up for five runs off nine hits in three innings of work. Dan Diblasi (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Lindenhurst) came in relief, but didn't fare any better as Kean scored four runs in his two innings.

Faring better at the plate, Diblasi went 2-for-4 in the game. Third baseman Joseph Calabrese (Westbury, N.Y. / W.T. Clark) went 2-for-3 for the Eagles. As a team St. Joseph's totaled 10 hits, but couldn't string consecutive hits against the tough Cougar pitching.

Next up for the team is a home game against non-conference foe William Paterson (12-4) on Tuesday April 2nd, at 3:30 p.m. Last season the Pioneers defeated the Golden Eagles 11-5 at Jeff Albies Field in Wayne, N.J.
