Eagles Pitching Silents Bearcats' Bats

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College baseball team (16-21) defeated the Bearcats of Baruch (14-16) with a final score of 2-1. The win gets the Eagles on the right track heading into the Skyline Conference Tournament.

St. Joseph's got out in front early in the bottom of the first. Centerfielder Anthony Gallo led off with a single through the left side and advanced to second with a stolen base on the next pitch. He came across the plate on a throwing error by the catcher trying to throw out Kenny Willms at second. Willms scored later in the inning on a two out single by shortstop Alex Ras.

Those were the only runs St. Joseph's needed for the victory. It was a combined effort of pitching that got the job done for the Golden Eagles. Jonathan Beekman started the game and pitched three scoreless innings. Robert Hyde came in for two relief innings and earned his fourth win of the season. Rich Donnelly closed out the game earning his first save of his collegiate career.
