Brooklyn, NY| Despite a 20-point performance from senior Jarred Marrow, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team (2-8, 2-4 Skyline) dropped an 81-73 decision to Skyline Conference rival St. Joseph's College (Brkln) on Saturday afternoon.

Marrow shot 5-for-9 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. Senior Isaiah Moore went for 11 points and five rebounds, and junior Jonah Caldwell grabbed a team-best eight rebounds in his SJC debut.

The Bears were powered by Stephane Etheart who posted game-high totals in points (24) and rebounds (14).

Down 35-30 with 2:14 to play in the half, Caldwell brought the guests to within two points with a made layup, but Etheart's converted free throw with two seconds to play ensured the Bears entered the break up five points (37-32).

In the second half, the Golden Eagles were kept at arm's length by the hosts, and despite coming to within four points of the Bears (62-58) took the 81-73 loss.

Though outshot 39.3% to 37.7% from the field, Long Island shot 93.3% from the charity stripe and outscored the Bears 30-20 in the paint.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Monday, January 8 when they visit the College of Mount St. Vincent for a Skyline Conference contest at 7:00 pm.
