Riverdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team (2-9, 2-5 Skyline) scored five players in double-digits but dropped a 90-84 decision to the College of Mount St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference contest in the Bronx on Monday evening.

Sophomore Frank Basile led the Golden Eagles with 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field. The guard also dished out a game-high five assists and was credited with two steals.

Seniors Isaiah Moore (4-for-8 FG) and Mike Harris (5-for-8 FG) scored 12 points apiece, while fellow classmen Stephen Cohen and Trey Kinard both shot 4-for-9 from the field and scored 11 points.

The Dolphins were led by Matthew Sowah who tallied a game-high 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting.

SJC struggled from the field early and fell behind 30-12 with 6:23 to play in the first, but a jumper by Kinard with 53 seconds to play in the half ensured the deficit was 12 at the break (41-29).

Mt. St. Vincent maintained a double-digit lead through much of the second, but Cohen's three-ball with 3:48 to play in regulation brought the guests to within six points (78-72).

Junior Jonah Caldwell's jumper with 1:12 on the clock made it a four-point game (84-80) but that would be the closest the Golden Eagles would come to tying the game before taking the 90-84 defeat.

Despite being outshot from the field (54.2%-48.4%), SJC boasted a superior three-point shooting percentage (43.5%-40.9%) and registered more bench points (33-25).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, January 10 when they host the United States Merchant Marine Academy inside the Danzi Center at 8:00 pm. Live video and stats for the contest will be available here.
