Marrow Powers Men’s Basketball in Win at Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY| Senior Jarred Marrow scored a career-best 21 points in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team's 73-61 win over Skyline Conference rival SUNY Maritime in the Bronx on Tuesday evening.

The win sees the Golden Eagles improve to 4-12 (4-7 Skyline) on the year as the Privateers slip to 8-9 overall and 5-8 in conference play.

Marrow's 21 points came off of 7-for-12 shooting from the field. The guard also shot 4-for-7 from three and was credited with a pair of rebounds.

Senior Isaiah Moore shot 5-for-8 and contributed 18 points, and fellow classman Mike Harris went for 11 points.

Maritime was led by Patrick Macdonald who scored 16 points (7-for-11 FG).

Up one (7-6) 4:44 into the contest, SJC rattled off eight of the next 10 points to pull ahead 15-8 at 12:24 and eventually rode a nine-point lead (40-31) into the break.

The Privateers scored the second half's first four points, but a Trey Kinard jumper and a Harris three-ball inside the period's first five minutes saw the Golden Eagles go up 12.

Successfully maintaining a double-digit lead till the final buzzer, SJC kept the hosts at arm's length and cruised to a crucial 73-61 victory.

St. Joseph's enjoyed its best shooting performance of the season having converted on 56.3% of all field-goal attempts. SJC also held steep advantages from beyond the arc (50.0% to 28.6%) and at the charity stripe (100% to 64.3%).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, January 28 when they host Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference showdown at 1:00 pm. Live links here.
