Swim Team Finishes Fourteenth at ECAC Swim Championships

Bronx, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles finished 14th out of 17 teams competing in the three-day 2013 Women's ECAC Winter Championships.

In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Gabrielle Zollo placed 53rd out of over 120 swimmers. Her teammates Lauren Ouzounian, Melissa Nocco, Kimberly Mazza, and Gabriella Cannon all finished in the top 75. Lorena Waters and Janece Guerra finished in the top 90 while Alexis Donin placed 94th.

Zollo was the only Eagle to compete in the 200 Yard Fly and finished 27th. The Golden Eagles came in twelfth in the 800 Yard Free Relay and thirteenth in the 200 Yard Free Relay out of thirty teams.

Ouzounian had a good showing in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing 35th out of 80 swimmers. Mazza wasn't far behind her placing 58th. Mazza and Nocco finished 65th and 66th, respectively, in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

Guerra finished 51st in the 100 Yard Breast with a time of 1:34:93. Zollo came in 48th place in the 100 Yard Fly.

St. Joseph's had great performances in the 50 Yard Freestyle as Zollo came in 55th and Ouzounian was just a half second behind her. Mazza, Nocco, and Cannon finished in the top 75 of 130 and Waters, Guerra, and Donin all finished in the top 100.

The Eagles "A" Team finished twelfth out of 25 teams in the 400 Yard Free Relay.

The Eagles will take on St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on December 21st at 3 p.m. as part of the annual "East vs. West" rivalry meet.
