Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Kean at Home

Patchogue, NY| Senior Will Flohr put down a team-high 14 kills as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team swept Kean University in a non-conference contest inside the Danzi Athletic Center on Friday evening.

The win brings the Golden Eagles to 5-0 on the year as the Cougars fall to 1-4.

Flohr hit .286 in the match and was credited with a team-best 14 digs and four aces. 

Junior Jack Solen went for eight kills and 11 digs, and senior David Slager was credited with six kills and nine digs. 

Junior Jason Siriban dished out a game-best 31 assists and dug out 13 balls. 

A tense first set saw SJC edge Kean, 27-25, and use that late-set momentum to grab a 25-21 win in set two.

In the third, St. Joseph's fell behind early, 3-1, but strung together an 11-4 run to go up 12-7. From there, the hosts held off the Cougars and clinched a 3-0 victory when Flohr put down the winning kill.

SJC hit .189 in the contest and limited Kean to a .140 hitting percentage. St. Joseph's held edges in service aces (10-1) and total digs (59-44).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, January 25 when they host Sacred Heart University and #10 Arcadia University for a non-conference tri-match beginning at 12:00 pm.
