Men’s Volleyball Holds Off Hunter in 3-2 Win

Patchogue, NY| Four Golden Eagles registered 10 or more kills in the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team's 3-2 victory over Hunter College inside the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

The win is SJC's third in a row and brings them to 8-4 overall on the season as the Hawks drop to 7-4.

Leading the way for the hosts was senior Paul Curaro, who went for a team-high 14 kills, a game-high three aces and 15 digs.

Senior Matt Cole recorded 13 kills and eight digs, and senior Will Flohr collected 12 kills and a game-high 18 digs.

Senior Kyle Allen-Morabito hit .269 and put down 12 kills, and junior Jason Siriban dished out 50 assists.

SJC was edged 28-26 in the first set but responded with a convincing 25-16 victory in the second frame to knot the match up at one. 

After dropping the third frame, St. Joseph's rallied from 14-14 to score 11 of the set's final 18 points and force a fifth set. The final frame went the distance before SJC claimed victory when Allen-Morabito registered the game-winning kill (16-14). 

St. Joseph's hit .173 in the contest and was credited with 71 total digs, five aces and 23 total blocks.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday, February 20 when they visit Baruch College for a non-conference contest at 7:00 pm.
