Men's Volleyball Splits on Saturday

Mahwah, NJ| The St. Joseph's College men's volleyball team split a pair on the road at Ramapo College on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles suffered a 3-0 sweep at the hands of the Roadrunners marking the first Skyline Conference loss since the 2017 season. St. Joseph's bounced back to earn a 3-0 non-conference win over City College of New York.

SJC 0, Ramapo 3

After a closely played opening set that saw the Golden Eagles (6-4, 0-1 Skyline) edged 25-22, the Roadrunners (7-4, 1-0 Skyline) jumped out to a 6-1 lead in set two and went on to claim the 25-16 win. A back-and-forth third set ultimately went to Ramapo who completed the three-game sweep.

Senior Matt Cole finished with a team-high 12 kills while hitting at a .423 clip. Seniors Paul Curaro and Kyle Biggers added 10 and six kills, respectively.

Setter Jason Siriban dished 27 assists with 10 digs. Libero Will Flohr finished with a team-best 13 digs.

Eric Van Thuyne led the Roadrunners with 12 kills and a .385 hitting percentage. Jason van der Wilt came away with 11 kills and six digs. Setter Josh Titus recorded 35 assists and nine digs. Stephen Codispodo picked up a team-high 10 digs while adding eight kills.

SJC 3, CCNY 0

The Golden Eagles bounced back to sweep CCNY (6-2) by scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-22.

Cole led the St. Joseph's attack with a career-best 18 kills while hitting .429. Curaro finished with double-digit kills 10 and a .348 hitting percentage.

Siriban tossed 26 assists with Flohr finishing with a game-best 15 digs.

Vukasin Bozic led the Beavers with 11 kills and Elijah Parks pitched in with eight. Setter Andrew Chan recorded 29 assists and Jonathan Liao picked up 14 digs. 

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center on Wednesday, February 12 when they host St. Francis Brooklyn at 7:00 pm.
