Hunter Tops Women’s Swimming

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team suffered a 52-41 defeat to Hunter College in a non-conference road meet on Friday evening.

Sophomore Sophia Lee posted SJC's first first-place finish of the meet when she turned in a time of 27.52 in the 50-yard freestyle. Lee would go on to take first in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.74) three events later.

Freshman Julianna Kohlus took second place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:27.95, 22 seconds quicker than junior Aileen Baker, who posted a time of 12:49.31 and finished in fourth place.

Kohlus also finished in second place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:39.42) while senior Catherine Peralta scooped up a pair of second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:24.74) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:38.84).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, November 3 when they host the College of New Rochelle and St. Joseph's College (Brkln) for a double-duel at 10:00 am.
