Women’s Swimming Finishes Fifth at Skyline Championships

Purchase, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team wrapped its 2018-19 season with a fifth-place finish at the 2019 Skyline Conference Championships at SUNY Purchase on Friday and Saturday.

The Golden Eagles earned 110 total points and trailed first-place USMMA by 457 points. They collected 54 fewer points than fourth-place SUNY Maritime.

SJC was led by freshman Julianna Kohlus, who placed sixth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:31.67) and seventh in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:18.73) and 200-yard butterfly (2:37.14) events.

Sophomore Sophia Lee finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.21) and took 11th place in the 50-yard freestyle (26.94).

Junior Aileen Baker earned an eighth-place finish in the 1,000 free (12:33.12) and was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team--along with sophomore Bella Peralta, Kohlus and Lee--that posted a time of 4:08.62 and finished fifth.

Peralta was eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:53.73) and 10th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:40.08) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.94).

Sophomore Jordyn Cummings earned an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:56.78).
