Women’s Tennis Sweeps Paterson in 2019 Opener

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis teams secured a 9-0 victory over William Paterson in a non-conference contest at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Tuesday evening.

The season-opening win ensures the Golden Eagles start the year with a 1-0 record as the Pioneers drop to 0-1.

The Golden Eagles started the match strong with three consecutive doubles victories as the pairings of Amanda Post/Nora Burnett, Mackenzie Martocci/Alana Caporale, and Lindsey Charrier/Erin Hickey emerged unscathed with 8-0 victories across the board.

Caporale's 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles put SJC on the brink of victory before Alexandra Suslan clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-0 sixth-singles win of her own. Burnett and Charrier also recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins at second and fourth singles, respectively.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 7 when they host SUNY Oneonta for a non-conference contest at the SJC OFC at 11:00 am.
