Women’s Tennis Topples Yeshiva in Skyline Action

Flushing, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team earned a 6-3 Skyline Conference victory over Yeshiva University at the USTA Tennis Center on Tuesday evening.

The win sees the Golden Eagles improve to 3-1 overall on the year and 1-0 in Skyline play as the Maccabees slip to 5-4 (4-3 Skyline).

SJC swept the doubles matches, setting the tone for the rest of the contest. After Amanda Post and Nora Burnet secured an 8-1 first-doubles win and Lindsey Charrier and Erin Hickey pulled out an 8-5 third-doubles win, the second doubles pairing of Mackenzie Martocci and Alana Caporale squeaked out a 9-7 victory.

Burnett's 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles put the Golden Eagles in the brink of victory, enabling Charrier to clinch the win for SJC with a 6-2, 6-3 fourth-singles triumph.

The Golden Eagles return to victory on Friday, September 27 when they visit Brooklyn College for a non-conference contest.
