Women’s Tennis Dismisses Purchase on Senior Day
Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team blanked SUNY Purchase, 9-0, in a Skyline Conference contest at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Saturday afternoon and improved 6-2 overall on the year and 3-1 in Skyline play.
The Golden Eagles opened Senior Day with a trio of doubles victories including an 8-1 win by seniors Mackenzie Martocci and Alana Caporale at second doubles.
Seniors Amanda Post and Nora Burnett squeaked out an 8-7 (7-5) win at first doubles.
After Post earned a 6-2, 6-4 first singles victory, sophomore Alexandra Suslan clinched the win for the hosts with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at sixth singles.
Burnett and Martocci both earned tie-breaker wins at second and third singles, respectively.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 9 when they visit Sarah Lawrence College for a Skyline Conference contest.
