Video: 2017 Baseball Season Preview

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team will take the field for the start of the 2017 season when it plays host to John Jay College at Gregg Alfano Field on Wednesday, March 8th at 4 PM.
Despite losing a plethora of starters, three of which were named to the Skyline All-Conference Team last season, including Skyline Tournament MVP Nick Girardi, head coach Rick Garrett will be task to lead 20 new players in addition to his 22 returners.
The 20 arrivals include transfer students PJ Martino, Anthony Caminiti, and Dylan Piscitelli,
Martino, a transfer from the University of Bridgeport, appeared in 16 games for the Purple Knights, compiling a 4-4 record and tallying three saves. The southpaw hurled 50.2 innings, fanned 29 batters and his 1.07 ERA was sixth in the nation, and ranked top-ten in hits allowed per nine innings.
Piscitelli arrives from Dowling College after winning the ECC Championship Tournament with the Golden Lions. The Greenlawn, NY switch-hitter appeared in 27 games and tallied eight RBIs.
On February 21 the Skyline Conference released the results of its Preseason Coaches Poll which saw the Golden Eagles finish fourth a season after defeating Farmingdale State, 9-8, in the conference championship.
