Men's Golf Seeks First Skyline Title Since 2007

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I) men's golf team look to get off to a strong start in the 2015-16 season under the leadership of head coach George Cangero.  Cangero enters his 15th season with the Golden Eagles, and is very optimistic about the season after his team finished in the top three at the 2015 FSC invitational at Bethpage State Park last spring.

Coach Cangero has high hopes for his players and looks to remain at the top of leaderboards in the Skyline Conference.  "The men's golf team will do what it has always done—work hard to do its best," said Cangero. In a preseason poll voted by the Skyline Conference coaches, the Golden Eagles were selected to finish second behind Farmingdale St.

The Golden Eagles have several notable returners this year and aim to capture the Skyline Conference title. The 2014-15 Skyline Conference Individual Champion Christian Bleck (St. James, NY), who shot eight over par in the title event, looks to finish his collegiate career with a strong senior season.

Senior Rob Bray (Shoreham, NY), who finished second at last year's conference championship and team captain Zac Campanelli (Bayport, NY) also returns for the 2015-2016 campaign.

Cangero welcomes freshmen Dan McNamara (Lake Grove, NY) and Patrick Standard (Coram, NY) to the team ahead of the season as well. "Each player will have a vital role in the team's success this year," added Cangero, who feels the duo will make an instant impact.

The Golden Eagles will kick-off their 2015-16 campaign at a Skyline Invitational at Eisenhower Park Red Course on September 11.
