Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team picked up a pair of crucial Skyline Conference wins, 2-1 and 3-1, over Farmingdale State College at home on Saturday afternoon.

The wins ensure the Golden Eagles, now sitting at 12-6 on the year, remain perfect in conference play (8-0). They overtake the Rams (12-14, 8-2 Skyline) and move into second place in the Skyline standings.

SJC 2, Farmingdale 1 (8 innings)

Sophomore Jillian McFadzen (2-for-3) put the hosts ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second when her RBI-single to right field scored junior Lyndsay Smocer (1-for-2).

Scoreless till the top of the seventh, the Rams tied the score when Lexie Collard (1-for-4) scored Amaris Negron (1-for-3) with an RBI-single up the middle.

After failing to score a deciding run in the bottom of the seventh, SJC catapulted to victory in the bottom of the eighth when sophomore Ashley Accardi's (1-for-4) single to left field sent sophomore Franzelyn Russo (1-for-4) home.

Senior Theresa Cardello (6-2) tossed all eight innings and struck out two batters while allowing zero earned runs.

SJC 3, Farmingdale 1

As was the case in game one, SJC took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, this time following Accardi's (1-for-3) double down the left-field line that scored Smocer (2-for-3).

The Rams responded immediately, tying the game at one in the top of the third when Kimberly Basile (1-for-3) recorded an RBI single to left field.

In the bottom half of the third, Smocer belted a triple to right center and scored two, senior Kristen Arbiter (1-for-3) and Cardello (1-for-3), to put the hosts ahead two runs (3-1).

Senior hurler Ashley Blydenburgh (6-2) shut it down from there as SJC claimed a 3-1 win to complete the sweep. Blydenburgh struck out six and allowed six hits.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, April 22 when they host Yeshiva University for a Senior Day doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm. The senior ceremony will take place in between games.
