W. Basketball Falls to Mt. St. Vincent in Lopsided Affair

Riverdale, N.Y. - St. Joseph's (4-13, 2-4 SKY) was topped by the Skyline Conference's second place Mount Saint Vincent (13-3, 4-1 SKY), 77-32, Saturday evening at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.

The Lady Golden Eagles struggles began early after the Dolphins came out of the gate flying with a 21-2 run to start the game.  SJC was active on the offensive side of the ball launching 29 first period shots, but the buckets weren't falling for them as the team finished the half with 11 points compared to Mount Saint Vincent's 37.

In the second, the Golden Eagles remained focus on the task at hand by chipping into the Dolphin's lead.  Eight minutes into the second, SJC scored 12 points to cut Mount Saint Vincent's lead to 26, the lowest of the half.

St. Joseph's nearly doubled their first half points due to a strong effort by guard Rynese Smith (Greenpoint, N.Y./ Bellport), who harbored eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks in the second period alone.  Smith's totals for the evening included those eight points, a game-high eleven boards and three blocks.

Meaghan Haber (East Northport, N.Y./ John Glenn) was active on the boards, accumulating seven rounds while adding four points.

St. Joseph's College will look to turn the page as they get ready for another Skyline Conference contest next Saturday versus the Purchase Panthers (2-13, 0-5 Skyline) in Purchase, N.Y. at 2:00 p.m.
