Men’s Soccer Blanks Yeshiva for First Win of 2019

Edgewater, NJ| Senior Damian Duda tallied twice as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team registered its first win of the 2019 season—a 2-0 road decision against Yeshiva University—on Tuesday evening at Veteran's Park Field.

The win brings the Golden Eagles to 1-4-0 overall on the year and 1-0-0 in Skyline Conference play as the Maccabees slip to 2-3-1- (0-2-1 Skyline).

Duda's goals came four minutes apart in the 32nd and 36th minutes and were assisted by Rayneri Ruiz and Dylan Rieckehoff, respectively.

Junior keeper Tyler Flaherty made 11 saves on 11 shots and registered his first clean sheet of the season.

Duda's first tally came when he beat the Yeshiva keeper, Sagi Badash, 1-v-1 after receiving a through ball from Ruiz.

The second mark came less than four minutes later when Duda banged in a loose ball inside the box.

SJC outshot Yeshiva 20-16 in the match but was matched, 2-2, in generated corner kicks.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 21 when they host SUNY Purchase for a Skyline Conference contest at Danzi Stadium at 12:00 pm.
