Men's Volleyball Earns Sweep Over John Jay

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over non-conference opponent John Jay College on the road on Tuesday evening.

The win moves the Golden Eagles to 5-1 on the season as the Bloodhounds drop to 4-3.

Junior Paul Curaro led SJC with a game-best 13 kills. Junior Kyle Biggers went for six kills with three blocks at the net.

Senior Tyler Jones tossed a game-high 22 assists with four digs and three kills. Libero Danny McNamera collected eight digs and teammate Will Flohr finished with five.

The Bloodhounds were led by Alejandro Gallardo with 11 kills and Krystian Surdel who provided nine.

Setter Godwin Sequeira dished 18 assists and Rintaro Kato recorded eight digs.

A tightly played opening set didn't see either side with a lead larger than three and after a John Jay service error put SJC up 24-22, a kill from Jones secured the 25-22 win. The visiting Golden Eagles completed the sweep with a 25-16 win in set two before a 25-14 win in set three.

SJC returns to action when they travel to top-ranked Springfield College for a non-conference tri-match on Saturday, February 9. The Golden Eagles will take on Sage at 1:00 pm before taking on the Pride at 5:00 pm.
