Softball Swept by Farmingdale on Sunday

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team dropped a pair of contests, 4-0 and 10-2, to Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Danzi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The losses send the Golden Eagles to 5-10 overall on the year and 2-4 in Skyline play as the Rams improve to 14-2 and 6-0.

Game 1: FSC 4, SJC 0
Down 1-0 after the first inning, SJC allowed two more runs (3-0) in the top of the third when Lyndsey Shaw (3-for-4) hit a two-run homer to center field. 

Shaw tacked on an additional run for the Rams (4-0) in the top of the fifth with a solo homer.

Emily Fenezia (1-for-3), Julia Ruocchio (1-for-2), Riley Lim-Ellis (1-for-3), and Jenna Kreiling (1-for-2) recorded hits for SJC.

Patricia McGloin (L, 2-3) allowed three earned runs in a complete-game effort.

Game 2: FSC 10, SJC 2
After scoreless first and second innings, Farmingdale posted nine runs in the top of the third inning to go up 9-0.

Lindsay Ness (2-for-3) brought one back for the hosts in the bottom of the third (9-1) with an RBI single to center field but the Rams responded in the fourth with another score to reestablish their nine-run edge (10-1).

Ness scored Fenezia (1-for-3) for the second time in the game in the bottom of the fifth, once again with an RBI single. 

Olivia Verderosa (L, 2-2) took the loss for SJC and tossed 2.1 innings. Alexa Tenety allowed two earned runs in 2.2 innings of relief.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, April 12, when they visit SUNY Purchase for a Skyline Conference doubleheader at 3:00 pm.
