Women's Soccer Edged by Mount St. Mary, 1-0

Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's soccer team was defeated by Mount Saint Mary on Saturday afternoon, losing to the Knights by a final score of 1-0 in a Skyline Conference matchup. The Golden Eagles are now 3-3-1 (2-1) on the year as Mount St. Mary moves to 4-3 and 1-0 in conference play.

St. Joseph's battled the Knights until the final whistle, but the lone goal came from Nicole Cavallo in the 13th minute, as she ripped a shot from 30 yards out to take the 1-0 lead.

Senior Katie McGarell made seven saves on eight shots on gteeoal from the Knights. As for Mount St. Mary, Mary Riley came away with the shutout, making three saves in net to keep the Golden Eagles scoreless.

The Golden Eagles had numerous chance to score, but could not finish. Seniors Jessica Cordano and Joanne Murino recorded back-to-back shots in the 85th minute in attempts to score the equalizer. Both seniors led the charge with two shots a piece.

St. Joseph's will next travel to take on the Sage Colleges in a Skyline Conference matchup on Sunday, September 17. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM. Follow the game via live stats here at sjcgoldeneagles.com
