Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup by the score of 6-0 to Montclair State University on Wednesday night at Danzi Stadium. The game pushes the Golden Eagles back to 4-6-1 (3-2-0 Skyline) on the year while the Red Hawks improve to a 9-2-1 (2-1-1 NJAC) record.

The Red Hawks controlled the pace of the game early on in the first half, as they scored on their first shot in the 11th minute when Jennie Hornstra scored on a header. Montclair continued to pressure the Golden Eagle defense when they tallied three more shots before scoring its second goal of the game. Hornstra added a third tally in the 17th minute with a shot into the upper 90 of the goal.

The on-going possession of the Red Hawks created a set piece for them in the 22nd minute, when Hornstra crossed it from the top of the 18 yard marker for Shawna Grabowski, who scored the third goal of the game.

SJC started to create chances to score in the 28th minute, when Joann Murino fired a shot which Montclair keeper Erinne Finlayson parried. Kristin Carroll immediately pounced on the rebounded ball, but the attempt was saved again by the Red Hawk goalkeeper. After 45 minutes of play, Montclair State led the game 3-0.

Montclair St. continued to control the pace of the game in the second half, but the Golden Eagles had another opportunity to break the shutout in the 63rd minute. Carroll made a run on the right side and fed the through ball to Chelsea Bellini, who one touched it in to the hands of the diving keeper.
The Red Hawks would later add to their goal total when Jeanae Geonnetti scored from the 18 into the top left corner.  Montclair tested their range in the 76th minute, when Brooke Beatty delivered a goal from 30 yards out.  The final goal was scored by Kendel Bernardini in the 89th minute to seal the 6-0 victory for Montclair.
