Golden Eagles Sink Dolphins, 3-0

Patchogue, NY| Kristin Carroll, Claire Brady and Emily Lenartowicz all tallied as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team cruised past the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 Skyline Conference victory at Danzi Stadium. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 5-6-1 (4-2 Skyline) on the year as the Dolphins fall to 2-10-1 (1-4-1 Skyline).

St. Joseph's came out firing in the first half, recording the first three shots of the opening frame. Carroll's opener would come in the 34th minute, when she headed a corner off the foot of senior Jessica Cordano for her second goal of the season.

The Golden Eagles would enter halftime up 1-0 despite outshooting the Dolphins by a wide 13-1 margin.

Picking up where they left off, St. Joseph's again barraged Mount Saint Vincent keeper Elizabeth Martin before closing in on their second goal of the match in the 71st minute. A Brianna Mascia cross from the right side was slotted home by Brady, who tallied for the third time this season.

The hosts' third goal would also come by way of a cross, this time from the left, when Emily Fontinha played a ball near the endline into Emily Lenartowicz, who headed her first of the year past the visiting keeper.

Katie McGarrell made just three saves compared to Elizabeth's 11 in a game that saw the Golden Eagles outshoot the Dolphins 29-5.

Senior Joann Murino had a strong game on defense and provided forwards Chelsea Bellini and Brady with great service off free kicks.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, October 13 when they travel to face Skyline Conference rival Farmingdale State. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM. Live stats will be available here.
