Women's Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Contest to Hunter, 3-1

The St. Joseph's University-New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to Hunter College 3-1 in the Danzi Center on Tuesday evening

• Senior Madison Gremli led the Golden Eagles with 10 kills, 14 digs, and three service aces

• Junior Jackie Wolf pitched in with nine kills 

• Setter Katie D'Angelo dished 18 assists 

• Libero April Sexton picked up 12 digs 

How it happened

• A closely played opening frame saw the Golden Eagles trailing 23-21 late in the set, but three straight points went in favor of SJLI for a 24-23 advantage. After the Hawks tied it up at 24, Gremli closed out the set with a kill and an ace for the 26-24 win

• Hunter bounced back in set two cruising to a 25-9 win to even the match

• Set three was tied at nine before the Hawks went on a 7-2 run, 16-11, and the visitors would go on to take the set 25-14

• After claiming the first four points of the fourth frame, SJLI answered with four of their own. The teams exchanged points, but the Hawks began to pull away midway through the set and captured the 25-17 set win

• Hunter finished the match with 43 kills to St. Joseph's 25 and held a 67-41 advantage in digs
