The St. Joseph's University-New York (L.I.) women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference match against William Paterson University in the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

A closely played first set saw 22 tied scores with five lead changes and neither side gaining an advantage larger than three points. Tied at 23, the Pioneers got a kill and an ace from Cecilla Miller to close the set with a 25-23 win

William Paterson rolled momentum into the second set and with a slight 8-7 lead rattled off five unanswered points and kept a healthy distance en route to a 25-12 win

The score stayed close in the early part of the third frame, but the Pioneers strung together a 5-0 run to jump ahead 12-7. Later in the set, six straight points went in favor of the visitors for a 20-11 lead and they would eventually secure the sweep with a 25-14 win
