Baseball Selected Second in Skyline Preseason Poll

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team finished second in the Skyline Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, which was released by the conference on Friday afternoon.

Nearly a year removed from its Skyline Conference Championship defeat to Farmingdale St., head coach Richard Garrett returns a bevy of starters, including Skyline Conference Player of the Year Nick Girardi and All-Skyline First-Team members Joseph Calabrese, Josh Outsen, and  Brendan Sullivan.

Old Westbury, the defending conference champion, was chosen to finish first, collecting 63 points and seven first-place votes. The Golden Eagles received one first-place vote (1), but trailed the Panthers with 56 points in second. Farmingdale St. slotted in at #3 with 51 points and one first place vote.

St. Joseph's opens its season at home against Plattsburgh St. on Saturday Feb. 27, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 PM. The Golden Eagles open their Skyline Conference campaign at home against Yeshiva University on Friday March 11 at 9:30 AM.
