Baseball Outlasts William Paterson, 6-4

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team picked up a 6-4, non-conference road victory over the William Paterson Pioneers at Jeff Albies Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles are now 9-5 on the year as William Paterson slides to an 11-8 mark.

The Pioneers scored the first run of the game in the bottom half of the opening frame to take an early 1-0 advantage.

After a silent two innings, the Golden Eagles had a quick two outs in the top of the fourth, James Terry came up to bat with runners on first and second to deliver a game-tying RBI single. Ryan Walsh would take four pitches to load the bases for Anthony Bonilla, who hit a grand slam to take a 5-1 over the Pioneers.

In the bottom of the fifth K.C. Abel singled to right center to close the gap 5-2.

The Golden Eagles took advantage of a throwing error in the top of the eight to add on to the 6-2 lead.

The Pioneers came within two, 6-4, after a two-run blast to left field in the bottom of the ninth. Josh Outsen was able to escape the inning to earn his first save of the season.

Ryan Aloise tossed six innings and allowing two runs in his route to his third win of the year. Walsh finished the afternoon with a 2-for-3 day and one run scored.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Kings Point to take on the U.S Merchant Marine Academy, tomorrow on March 31 at 4:15 PM.
