Women's Lacrosse Opens Conference Play with Shutout Win Over Old Westbury

Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) women's lacrosse team opens up Skyline Conference play with a shutout victory over Old Westbury.

Top performers:
  • Senior Jamie Trowbridge led the Golden Eagles with five goals and six draw controls while also adding one assist 

  • Junior Kayleigh Mimnaugh recorded three goals and one assist

  • Junior Emily O'Mara provided St. Joseph's with two goals, one assist, and three draw controls 

  • Seniors Melissa Newman and Emma Lange combined for seven assists on the night with Newman netting one goal 

  • Senior Amanda Genardo totaled two goals, two groundballs, one draw control and one caused turnover

  • Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Harding put together the first shutout of her career 

  • Kathlen Mackey of the Panthers produced a game-high 15 saves 

How it happened:
  • St. Joseph's started the game strong with their offense in an immediate flow as they went on to score nine goals in the opening quarte

  • The second quarter saw the Golden Eagles again put up a strong offensive performance as they scored five goals in the quarter with two coming from Trowbridge 

  • In the third quarter, SJLI would find the net two more times as they pushed their lead and secured the victory, 16-0

Notes:
  • St. Joseph's collected 19 groundballs with Old Westbury scooping up seven

  • The Golden Eagles committed just five turnovers with the Panthers committing 21

  • SJLI put together 14 draw controls with Old Westbury obtaining just six

  • St. Joseph's had a total of 41 shots in the game 

  • The Golden Eagles were a modest 13-14 on clears while the Panthers went just 5-18
