WXC Takes First, Six Others Finish in Top 4 of Skyline Preseason Polls

New York, NY| All seven St. Joseph's College (L.I.) fall athletics teams  finished in the top four of their respective Skyline Conference Fall 2016 Preseason Coaches Polls, which were released on Monday afternoon. Faring best was women's cross country, who placed first, and men's cross country, who checked in at second.

The women's cross country team seeks its seventh-straight Skyline Conference title in 2016 and its 10th in the last 11 seasons. The men's cross country team placed second last year and returns Skyline individual champion Ryan Haun for his sophomore campaign.

The defending Skyline champion men's golf team also checked in at second place trailing only Farmingdale State, who finished second at the conference championship last season. Women's tennis slotted in at third place after finishing as runner up last year.

The remaining three teams—men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball—finished fourth in their respective polls. Women's soccer, who won its first Skyline Conference title in 2016, seeks to defend its championship under the direction of first-year coach Salma Tarik.
