Curaro, Johnston Garner Skyline Rookie of the Week Honors

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Monday evening, and amongst the winners were freshmen Paul Curaro and Diana Johnston who earned Rookie of the Week honors for men's volleyball and women lacrosse, respectively. Additionally, juniors Tyler Jones (men's volleyball) and Nicole Stoppelli (women's lacrosse) appeared on Weekly Honor Rolls.

Paul Curaro – Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

In three matches last week Curaro led the Golden agles with a total of 32 kills, including team-high marks of 13 vs. Ramapo and 15 vs. Kean on Sunday afternoon. In a 3-0 sweep of Sage on Tuesday the Holbrook, NY native went for a season-high eight service aces, which is the eighth-highest total in a three-set match in the nation this season. As of Tuesday morning, Curaro led SJC in kills (244), kills/set (2.94) and was tied for the team lead in service aces (31).

Diana Johnston – Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

Johnston tallied six goals in two games last week as the women's lacrosse team posted an 0-2 record. In a 16-10 loss to Allegheny last Tuesday, Johnston registers two goals on three shots, and on Sunday's 10-9 overtime loss to Stockton the Commack, NY native tallied the opening goal of the contest in addition to a pair of go-ahead goals later on in the action. As of Tuesday the freshman midfielder ranked second on the team in goals (12) and third in and points (14).

Tyler Jones – Men's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

Jones posted game-high assists totals of 26 vs. Sage on Tuesday and 41 vs. Ramampo on Sunday afternoon during a week that saw him collect a total of 104 assists. In Saturday's match vs. Ramapo the Farmingville, NY native also established season-highs in kills (7) and blocks (6). Before play on Tuesday Jones was third in the Skyline conference in assists/set (8.80).

Nicole Stoppelli – Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Stoppelli collected five goals and three assists in two games last week. In a 16-10 loss to Alleghany last Tuesday, Stoppelli netted two goals on three shots and dished out two assists, and on Sunday, the Lindenhusrt, NY native went for three goals–including the game-tying mark in the final seconds of regulation–as the Golden Eagles dropped a 10-9 contest in overtime to Stockton University. The sophomore attack is second on the team in goals (12) and points (20) and is tied for first in assists (8).
