Four Golden Eagles Earn Skyline Player/Pitcher/Rookie of the Week Honors

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards on Monday evening, and amongst the winners were several St. Joseph's College (L.I.) student-athletes. Kyle Biggers (men's volleyball) and Diana Johnston (women's lacrosse) earned Rookie of the Week Honors, Josh Outsen was tabbed baseball Pitcher of the Week and Kristen Arbiter was selected as softball Player of the Week. Additionally, Lou Doria (baseball) and Kristin Carroll (women's lacrosse) earned Weekly Honor Roll recognition for their respective sports.

Kristen Arbiter (Jr.) – Softball Player of the Week

Arbiter posted a .500 batting average in five appearances as the softball team posted a 5-1 record last week. After going 2-for-4 with five RBI's in a 12-1 game-one win over Farmingdale State on Saturday, Arbiter would go 3-for-4 (2 2B's, HR) with three RBI's in the a 5-4 game-two victory. In total, the Seaford, NY native recorded four doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI's while posting a 1.056 slugging percentage on the week. As of Monday evening, Arbiter led the Golden Eagles and was third in the conference with 16 RBI's.

Kyle Biggers (Fr.) – Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Through two matches and six sets last week Biggers averaged 2.6 kills-per-set and boasted a staggering .941 hitting percentage. In a 3-0 victory over St. Joseph's (Brkln)on Sunday the Holbrook, NY native hit 1.000 and collected eight kills. Biggers again went for eight kills and hit .889 in a 3-0 sweep of Sarah Lawrence in the final game of a Skyline tri-match on Sunday. Biggers currently leads the conference and is second in the nation in hitting percentage (.462).

Diana Johnston (Fr.) – Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
In two games last week, Johnston collected seven goals and one assist for a total of eight points. In SJC's 19-15 win over SUNY Old Westbury on Wednesday, the midfielder tallied four goals and one assist, while causing two turnovers and earning a game-best eight draw controls on the afternoon. The Commack, NY native would tally her third hat trick of the year in a 13-12 victory over the Mount St. Mary on Saturday afternoon. The freshman is third on the team in goals (19) and points (22).

Josh Outsen (Sr.) - Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Outsen earned his fourth win of the season in baseball's 7-0 win over the Maritime on Sunday afternoon. Outsen tossed a complete game shutout, striking out eight batters and allowed three hits. The Lindenhurst, NY native leads the conference in runs allowed (6), earned runs allowed (5), walks allowed (5), and opposing batting average (.165). His 1.55 ERA and 33 strikeouts is a team-best.

Kristin Carroll (Jr.) – Women's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

Carroll led the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's lacrosse team to a 2-0 record last week collecting eight goals and four assists for a total of 12 points. In a 19-15 win over Skyline foe SUNY Old Westbury, the junior attack went for six points – a hat trick and three assists – and won five draw controls (5) last Wednesday. Last Saturday, the Patchogue, NY native set a career-high in points (7) and goals (5) and was credited with two assists to lead the Golden Eagles to a hard-fought 13-12 victory over Skyline Conference rival Mount St. Mary last Saturday.

Lou Doria (Jr.) – Baseball Weekly Honor Roll

The LIU Post transfer batted .615 as the Golden Eagles swept both Mount St. Mary and Maritime last week. Last Monday, Doria went 3-for-5, drove in three runs and scored three runs to lift the Golden Eagles to a 9-3 victory over Mount St. Mary. Doria continued his hot streak when he went a perfect 3-for-3, including two doubles and driving in three RBI's in a 7-0 shutout win over Maritime on Sunday afternoon.  The Wantagh, NY native currently leads the conference in batting avg. (.429) and the team in doubles (8).
