Golden Eagles Roll by Mount Saint Vincent, 110-95

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College men's basketball team (12-2, Skyline 8-0) defeated the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent (4-11, Skyline 2-6), 110-95, to remain unbeaten in Skyline Conference play.

The Eagles were led by their senior guards and co-captains, Olivier Laurent (Amityville, N.Y./ St. Anthony's) with 29 points on 11-for-17 from the floor, and Trey Black (Bayport, N.Y./ Bayport-Blue Point), with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Senior forward Vincent Russo (Sayville, N.Y/Sayville) added 19 points and was perfect from the stripe with six free throws and two rare four-point plays.

St. Joseph's was hot in the first half and with four minutes remaining in the half Trey Black made a layup to give the Eagles a 17 point lead. The Dolphins would not go down easy though and went on a 13-4 run to close out the half, with the Golden Eagles up 49-41 going into the locker room.

In the second half, the Eagles scorers started heating up and brought the lead back to as many as 27.  St. Joseph's shot an amazing 61.3% from the floor in the second half on 19-for-31. The difference maker in the game came down to free-throw shooting of the Eagles as they shot 31-of-38 from the line in a game that wasn't light on fouls.

The win gives St. Joseph's a strong hold atop the Skyline Conference as they remain the only unbeaten team. Next up, for the Golden Eagles is the Panthers of Old Westbury (8-6, Skyline 5-2) with whom they split the season series last season.
