Trey Black Scores 1,000th Career Point as Eagles Cruise Past Yeshiva

Patchogue, NY – St. Joseph's College (19-3, 15-1 SKY) defeated Yeshiva University (4-17, 4-11 SKY) in men's basketball, 91-59, to secure  one of the top two seeds in the upcoming  Skyline Conference Tournament.  The victory guarantees the Golden Eagles a home semifinal game and a first round bye. 

In the contest, senior guard Trey Black (Bayport, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) scored his 1,000th point on a three-point field goal with 4:10 remaining in the contest.  He finished the game with 21 points and 1,001 career tallies. 

Leading all scorers for SJC was senior forward Steve Velasquez (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge) with 24 points on 8-for-9 from the field.  Senior guard Chris Jimenez (Huntington Station, NY/St. Anthony's) scored 18 for the Eagles.  Fellow senior guard Olivier Laurent (Amityville, NY/St. Anthony's) chipped in with 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

The Eagles will return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to Old Westbury (12-11, 9-7 SKY) for one of their final two Skyline regular season games.
