Golden Eagles Selected for 2012 NCAA Tournament

Indianapolis, IN - The St. Joseph's College (21-4) men's basketball team has received their first ever at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and will face Albertus Magnus (27-1) at Middlebury College in Vermont this Friday at 5:30 p.m.  The winner of the game will face the winner of Middlebury (24-3) and Morrisville State (19-8) in the regional final on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional-round sites March 9-10. Winners of the four sectional games will advance to the finals March 16 and 17. All games, except the finals, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The finals will be conducted at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia.

This is the second appearance for the Golden Eagles in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.  The 2008-09 Skyline Conference championship team earned the conference's automatic bid that season.

Despite holding the top-seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament, the Golden Eagles were upset by #4 Purchase College last Thursday in the semifinals.  Albertus Magnus is ranked #15 in the nation and earned their way into their tournament by winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship.

Middlebury, the host of the regional, is the reigning champion of the NESCAC, while Morrisville State captured the NEAC crown.

Tickets are priced/day at $6 for adults, $3 for students and will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28th at: http://boxoffice.middlebury.edu/index.php. You may also call 802-443-6433 or stop by the McCullough box office during normal business hours. More tickets are expected to become available on Thursday and will go on sale at noon. If any tickets remain, they will go on sale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
