Russo's Nine Three’s Leads SJC over Sage, Black Puts Up 25 points

Patchogue, NYVincent Russo (Sayville, NY/Sayville) scored a game-high 33 points and hit nine three point field goals to lead St. Joseph's College past The Sage Gators, 90-77,  Saturday evening at the Danzi Athletic Center.  The victory brings the Golden Eagles unblemished Skyline Conference record to 13-0 and 17-2 overall.  Sage fell to 9-11 and 5-9 in the Skyline.

Trey Black (Bayport, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) had one his best games of the season as he poured in 25 points along with a game-high ten assists and five rebounds.  The senior guard leads the Eagles in rebounds (7.1 per game), assists (98) and is second in points per game (15.4).  He posted his sixth double-double of the year in this game.

Russo's nine three's fell just one short of the St. Joseph's record ten set by Chris Jimenez (Huntington Station, NY/St. Anthony's) on December 9, 2010.  Jimenez carved out his own piece of history in the game as he tied the school record for three-pointers in a career with 288.  He now shares the mark with David Acree (2005-09). 

Olivier Laurent (Amityville, NY/St. Anthony's) scored 13 for SJC along with five assists and four boards.

Leading the way for Sage was Mason Horne with 20 points and Ryan LaBelle scoring 19.

St. Joseph's returns to the court Tuesday night at Purchase College (9-11, 7-8 SKY) in a rematch of the 1/28 game which St. Joseph's won 84-70.
