Eagles Grab Top Seed in Skyline Tourney

NEW YORK, NY – St. Joseph's-L.I. is the top seed for the 2012 Skyline Men's Basketball Championship, which begins on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The Golden Eagles (21-3) captured the regular season crown with a 17-1 mark in league play. Vying for its second title in program history and first since 2009, SJC boasts four seniors averaging double figures in points, led by guard Oliver Laurent (15.8 ppg.).

Farmingdale State (20-5/16-2) earned the No. 2 seed and a first round bye for the six-team Championship. The Rams are led by junior AJ Matthews, who leads the nation in rebounding (16.04 rpg.) and double-doubles (22).

Action commences at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, as No. 6 Mount Saint Vincent (11-14/9-9) visits third-seeded Mount Saint Mary (19-6/14-4), while fourth-seeded and two-time defending champion Purchase (12-13/10-8) hosts No. 5 Old Westbury (13-12/10-8).

Semifinal contests at St. Joseph's-L.I. and Farmingdale State will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23, while the title game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 25.
