Women's Soccer Falters in Regular-Season Finale

Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's soccer team dropped its final regular-season matchup, 3-0 to Mt. St. Mary College on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Eagles drop to 7-8 on the season with a 5-4 Skyline Conference record. The Knights even out at 9-9-1 overall, 9-0-1 Skyline.

Mt. St. Mary opened the scoring in the 30th minute when Alexa Franceschi sent a pass across the box to Gina Rivera who's shot was just out of reach of SJC's Juliana Cintron-Leonardo.

Trailing 1-0 late in the second half, the Golden Eagles committed a foul in the box prompting an MSMC penalty shot, which Franceschi converted for a 2-0 lead.

Minutes later, MSMC's Rivera tacked on some insurance with her second goal of the night moving the game to its final 3-0.

The Golden Eagles were outshot 20-2 with keeper Cintron-Leonardo finishing with six saves.

St. Joseph's enters the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament and the No. 5 seed and will face fourth-seeded Manhattanville College on the road on Saturday, November 2. Game time is slated for 12:00 pm.
