Women's Soccer Season Ends with 2-1 Loss to Manhattanville

Purchase, NY|  The St. Joseph's College women's soccer season came to an end with a 2-1 loss to Manhattanville College in the first round of the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the year at 7-9-2 and the Valiants improve to 10-9 and advance to the semifinal round.

Manhattanville was first on the board in the 29th minute when a free-kick from Dani Fanning found Natalie Aracena who lifted a shot over SJC keeper Juliana Cintron-Leonardo. The Golden Eagles got off a couple of shots later in the half, but when into the break trailing 1-0.

SJC's Christina Gagliardi even the score when she finished a free-kick from Karissa Rutigliano in the 66th minute.

With led than seven minutes left on the clock, Manhattanville's Ashley Hayes sent in a short corner kick for Natalie Pelaez who's initial shot was saved, but Brigid Sullivan was there to put that the rebound for the game-winner.

The Valiants outshot the Golden Eagles 26-14 with both sides awarded four corners apiece.

Cintron-Leonardo had 15 saves on the day with her counterpart Alexa Pyatsky finished with five.
