Women's Soccer Downed By John Jay in Season Opener

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's soccer opened the 2021 season with a 1-0 loss to John Jay College at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles move to 0-1 on the season as the Bloodhounds start at 1-0.

John Jay posted five shots to St. Joseph's four in the first half and entered the break leading 1-0. Jillian Golden took advantage of an SJC turnover and sent in a shot from the right side 19th minute for the match's only tally.

Though St. Joseph's recorded more shots, 13-9, the Bloodhounds held the edge in corners, having generated five the Golden Eagles' four.

SJC's Emily O'Mara led all players with a game-high four shots of which three landed on goal.

John Jay's Cyan Scott finished the day with nine saves with SJC's Madelyn Hunter and Mikayla Ritter recording two saves apiece.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, September 8 when they travel to Brooklyn College. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
