Women's Soccer Blanks Brooklyn, 11-0

Brooklyn, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team took down Brooklyn College 11-0 in a non-conference contest on the road on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles even out at 1-1 on the season as the Bulldogs open the year at 0-1.

SJC's senior Gianna Castilletti opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the fourth minute of play. Later in the half, junior Abbey Curcio dished to sophomore Yojaira Vasquez for her first goal in the blue and gold before sophomore Giavanna LoGiudice connected with both Vasquez and junior Emily Ascoli to send the Golden Eagles into the break leading 4-0.

St. Joseph's poured it on in the second half as junior Kayleigh Milton went back-to-back moving the score to 6-0. Curcio and Vasquez notched unassisted goals before senior Savannah McMaster, freshman Alesandra Melendez and sophomore Julia Cruz all found the back of the net pushing the game to its final 11-0.

The Golden Eagle defense allowed just one shot on goal which keeper junior Madelyn Hunter was there for the save en route to her first win of the season. Her counterpart Mariama Sano finished with nine saves on the day.

The Golden Eagles resume non-conference play on Sunday, September 12 when they travel to face New Jersey City University. Kick-off is set for 4:00 pm.
