Women's Soccer Falls Short in Skyline Tournament

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss in the first round of the Skyline Conference Tournament to the College of Mt. St. Vincent at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After a closely played first half that went by without a goal, the Dolphins broke through in the 61st minute. Emily McCarthy took a deflection off an SJC defender and then found herself one-on-one with St. Joseph's keeper Mikayla Ritter and blasted a shot to the right side of the net. McCarthy struck again in the 84th minute when she took a throw in from Lena Marin from the far side and took a shot from just outside the box and found the top right corner.

The Dolphins edged the Golden Eagles 9-7 in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks. SJC's Ritter finished with four saves on the day with CMSV's Kora-Lyn McCullough recording two.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the season at 9-8-0 with the Dolphins advancing to the semifinals at 9-6-1.
