Women's Soccer Cruises By Old Westbury, 10-1

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team picked up its first Skyline Conference win with a 10-1 decision over SUNY Old Westbury at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles improve to 4-3 on the season with a 1-1 conference mark. The Panthers fall to 0-5 overall, 0-2 Skyline.

SJC scored early when an OW foul in the box in the third minute prompted a goal from Julia Cruz courtesy of a penalty shot. Brooke Esposito went on to score twice to push the St. Joseph's lead to 3-0. SJC's Savannah McMaster scored back-to-back goals to send the Golden Eagles into the break leading 5-0.

The Golden Eagles scored early in the second frame when Trista Buck sent a ball into the box and found the head of Emily O'Mara for a 6-0 advantage. Later in the half, Abbey Curcio took a pass from Brooke Esposito and found the back of the net before assisting on the final three goals of the afternoon for the Golden Eagles. The Panthers broke up the shutout when Melanie Escobar scored in the 87th minute to move the game to its final 10-1.

St. Joseph's outshot OW 19-5 with a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. SJC's Madelyn Hunter finished with two saves on the day with OW's Mallory Moretti recording six.

The Golden Eagles return to Danzi Stadium on Wednesday, September 29 when they host SUNY Maritime at 7:00 pm.
